Phallological Museum, Husavik, Iceland
This unique museum claims to be "probably
the only museum in the world to contain a collection of phallic
specimens belonging to all the various types of mammal found in
a single country."
To put it simply, this museum has a lot of penises
from Iceland.
The museum's collection contains 150 samples of
penises and penile parts belonging to the land and sea mammals native
to Iceland. Most specimens have been dried, salted or stuffed, and
mounted on wooden platforms.
Largest of all the specimens are those from sperm
whales. These penises apparently make good leather and it is said
that Aristotle Onassis had the bar stools on his yacht "Christina"
covered in whale penis leather.
Phallology is a serious science and the museum
has over 140 honorary members who support its work.
The museum even has a gift shop offering novelty
items such as a skipping rope with phallic handles, or a lampshade
made out of bull scrotums.
Collection Highlights
Soon-to-be-donated human penis, rogue polar bear
penis, sperm whale penises, seal and walrus phalluses, folkoric
erotic artifacts and "practical utensils" related to the
phallology.
